New Line Cinema signed Antonio Banderas to star in the dance drama "Take The Lead." Inspired by the true story of internationally acclaimed ballroom dancer Pierre Dulane, "Take The Lead" stars Banderas as an ex-professional dancer who volunteers to teach dance in the New York City public school system. But when his ballroom methods clash with his students' hip hop instincts, he teams up with them to create a new style of dance and becomes their mentor in the process. The film was shot in Toronto during June, 2005.
Latin Energy, was chosen among hundreds of dancers who auditioned to dance in the new film Take the Lead. During the shooting time of the competition scenes, we were lucky to meet Antonio Banderas, many talented dancers, the choreographers of Take the Lead, Dance with me and Havana Nights films.
It was a wonderful experience. There were periods of time when we were off set waiting impatiently to dance but during this time, we made friends with many wonderful dancers. We exchanged dance lessons, learned new moves from each other and just had a wonderful time.
